The band will be playing at the end of Aug with Elf Power
and The Meek Family at the Earl. Expect to hear a mix of new material and old favorites from the Silent Kids and request that Elf Power play "Needle in the Camel's Eye" (an Eno classic).

Good to see everyone who came out to see us last Sat at Wonderroot, see photo above from the venue.
Playing a show at a ceramics studio/darkroom/record studio/art gallery was fun. The crew at Wonderroot taped our show and if it came out well we will post some samples online in the near future.

Hey kiddos,
Silent Kids wants to thank to all the folks (lots of em!) who came out to our record release show at the Earl this past Fri night. Also we’d like to thank the Preakness and Luigi for opening up.
The Preakness brought along their film projector and taught everyone a thing or too about cell mitosis. Look out for their debut record to be released sometime later this year.
Luigi sadly was performing their last show, hard to believe we won’t be able to sing along to their hit "Mariposa" in the front row anymore. Some special beverages were donated to the band by the Earl’s Patrick Hill.
Silent Kids set was:
Stars and Rust/Cable Cars/Miami/Dim Sparkle Spin/100 Years From Now (by Gram Parsons)/Radio was Unplugged/Hissing of the Summer Grass/Stockholm’s Waiting (with Michelle from Luigi on backing vocals)/Teenage Symponies (with Beth Kargel on percussion)/Neptunists Revenge/Ex-Lion Tamer (by Wire)

Did anyone else in Atlanta catch the No Age/Liars show last night at the Earl?
We picked up the vinyl version of "Weirdo Rippers" by No Age they were selling at the show. Talk about minimalist packaging, there are no liner notes, song listing, nothing on the record to tell you what side is playing, just a xeroxed piece of paper glued to the front. I guess they were in hurry to press these for the tour. Great sounding record though, like a mix of My Bloody Valentine and Black Flag. Check them out if they come to your town.

Silent Kids is pleased to announce that Brandon Arnold from the Preakness has joined us on bass. His head-shot was the most impressive of all the entries we received and he really nailed the intro bass part to VH's "Running with the Devil". Please buy him a drink at our next show.

We just finished recording our sophomore record @ Studio Laroche here in the ATL.
Ben Price was the engineer and we all pitched in to help mix it. Ben is one of the few engineers we know that rides his bike to the studio. Thanks to Taqueria del Sol for provided some much needed food during our breaks. We're gonna master it with Glenn Schick, he is well known for working with Of Montreal and, uhmm, Ludacris ...Could be a crunk record ya'll.

The band has finished writing the sophomore record and will be going into the studio early this spring. We’ve decided to record 12 songs with Ben Price, he is best known in town for recording Luigi and the Georgia Fireflies.

Everyone knows that house parties can be more fun than club shows.
With that in mind the Silent Kids played a party on a back deck in East Atlanta this past weekend.
Since it was a party we busted through some of our covers (like "Teenage Kicks" by the Undertones, "Ex-Lion Tamer" by Wire, "Hanging on the Telephone" by Blondie, etc..) as well as some stuff we are working on for the next record.

So, the rumors are true, the original Lenny's will soon be no more. They are going to rezone the old spot and raze it. Silent Kids has fond memories of playing the original Dotties (what Lenny's used to be called) and getting yelled at by a German sound guy when Jeff's bass amp caught on fire. Good times, sigh...
